We’re back in the 1940s this evening\, and you have been selected to help us find the killer on one of our Murder Mystery nights… See below for the full details—do you have what it takes? \n\n\n\n\nYour Murder Mystery Experience!\n\n\nTunbridge Wells West is where you must arrive to start your crime-solving journey\, where\, out of the cover of the trains\, the evening will begin…. \nAHHHHHH! There has been a murder! \nListen out for the all-important briefing; we need you to help solve the mystery of “whodunit”! \nThe time has come for you to board the train\, board our heritage carriages and get comfortable. You’re in this for the next couple of hours\, and without you\, we might never find the killer. Heading out of Tunbridge Wells\, you will be served a freshly prepared supper and make your way through the High Weald. \nWe have a briefing at the station; then\, we transfer to our train\, where the story becomes more interesting as the night draws in. On our way out of Tunbridge Wells West\, enjoy a Fish and Chip supper as you travel through the High Weald countryside down the line… \nSuddenly\, we stop at a remote country station and follow the detective onto the platform to discover more about this terrible crime… Once they have updated you\, hop back on board\, get comfortable\, and begin your investigation. \nThroughout the remainder of the evening\, the detective and their sidekicks will wander the train\, making occasional station stops to provide more important clues and hopefully lead you to find the killer. \nThe evening ends back at Tunbridge Wells West in our shed\, when all will become clear. Will you work out “whodunit?” You may even win a prize! \nThese evenings are great fun in groups\, so why not invite your friends\, family and loved ones to experience a Murder Mystery on the train! All of our mysteries are family friendly 😃 \nThe mystery lasts roughly 90-120 minutes from start – finish. \nWHAT TO EXPECT…\nAppetizers & Drinks will be served upon your arrival at 6:30pm. Please note alcoholic beverages are available for purchase – they are not included in your ticket price. During this time you’ll also meet some of the characters you’ll encounter in the mystery as a pre-show mingle. The scripted show will begin at 7:00pm. Soon after a dead body will appear and you’ll meet your DETECTIVE who will explain the rules of the game and guidelines for the evening. After this briefing – DINNER WILL BE SERVED and your investigation will begin in earnest! \nPlease note the mystery happens in two distinct ways throughout the evening… \n\nSCRIPTED DIALOGUE – Where the story unfolds through interrogation of the suspects by Detective Gunn (your detective and host for the evening). During this part we kindly ask that you respect the people around you trying to hear the story and keep any conversation to a whisper. Any side conversations during these parts (especially from multiple tables) can overwhelm guests who are hard of hearing or trying to listen. This is also a time when important CLUES are discovered and talking during it may cause you to lose important information.\nIMPROVISED INTERROGATION This is a break from the scripted dialogue (when Detective Gunn leaves the playing area to find more evidence). During this time guests are encouraged to get up – look at the evidence on the evidence table\, interrogate the actors themselves (this is the improvised part as the actors have no idea what you might ask them)\, use the facilities\, get a drink at the bar (we’re funnier when you drink 😉 or… take this time to talk to your companions and relax and take everything in. There are several of these small 3-5 minute opportunities throughout the evening – so if you don’t get a chance to talk to your favorite suspect during the first break – don’t worry – you’ll have plenty of opportunities throughout the evening. We ask that you do not touch the actors during your interrogation – if you wish to see some evidence you think they may be carrying or anything about their clothing or appearance you think might be a clue – you can ask them to show it to you and they’ll be more than happy to help you solve the crime! 🔍\n\nAt the end of the investigation Detective Gunn will give you a final 10 minutes you fill out your SOLUTION SHEET (where you’ve been gathering your notes throughout the evening) and turn it in for a chance to win one of three prizes for BEST DETECTIVE. \nMost importantly – enjoy your evening! As you savour your delicious dinner\, enjoy period background music and puzzle over the murderer\, you will have time to enjoy the countryside views along the South Downs National Park as your train takes you through the four period stations of The Watercress Line. \nAfter your supper\, the final dénouement will take place\, and the perfect murder will finally be revealed. \nThe Perfect Murder will be played by a cast of actors in full theatrical costume\, with authentic props & clues.
